Romero + McPaul is a 'Lifestyle Brand' committed to design of outstanding and Bespoke 'Velvet Slippers'. Italian shoemaker for more than 35 years, Mr. Migliori, makes sure the finest materials are selected, while supervising each step along the shoemaking process. Every single shoe is handcrafted by artisans.
'The Albert Slipper', as it is commonly referred to, dates back to the British-Victorian Era when Prince Albert married Queen Victoria in 1840.
Nowadays, 'Velvet Slippers' are commonly worn by Royal Families, New York's 'Old Money' Aristocrats, and Socialites over at The Hamptons. They are also common among 'Trendsetters' in Paris, Saint-Tropez, Moscow, Madrid, Milan, London, Monaco, Copenhagen, L.A., Sydney, and Tokyo.
It is our own special interest to bring this product and unique lifestyle into a few more 'One Percenters' across the globe.
OUR INSPIRATION
Alston McPaul, personal shoemaker for Prince Albert in mid 1800s was known for his constant affairs with Royals. He was also known for creating flawless, handmade, quilted lining ‘Velvet Slippers’ for the House of Hanover for more than 30 years. When British Monarch, Queen Victoria found out about his secrets, he was exiled from Great Britain and sent to Siberia, Russia where he died in 1879.
Personal tailor for late Alfonso XIII (named King of Spain in late 1800s), José María Romero, was also known for his wild nights, constant royal affairs, and disturbing behavior. Romero was such good at his work that he was sentenced to work under Spanish Army surveillance in a house outside the Royal Palace.
Romero + McPaul was inspired by blending these two interesting characters together, resulting in an elegant, yet rebel brand. Romero is the Spanish, modern, daring side of the brand. McPaul is the English, classic, and traditional one.
